The tours through the mountain world of Madeira are also ideal preparation for alpine marathons and other events in the mountains. Nowhere else will you get so many vertical meters together as here in Madeira…

Hello Rainer, thank you for the great day.
The new bikes are great. Did a sporty tour
with Carlos. After we were chauffeured a
good part of you uphill, we fought the last
meters in altitude to enjoy the downhill
experience on single trails and then on
paths along the Levada.

No. 60 »Madeira – a challenge Achim from
Aichtal wrote: Madeira is a real challenge
for the cycling amateur, as there are only
very steep roads (apart from a plateau
in the interior). We learned to appreciate
Rainer very positively as a guide –
both in the choice of materials and
the choice of tours.
The bike rental directly at the hotel
was absolutely convenient. Rainer was also
absolutely flexible with the provision of
the bikes (we were able to take a day off
and kept the bikes).
So price-performance ratio great!
Recommended at any time…

741 km² in size (57 km x 22 km) The island of Madeira lies in the Atlantic Ocean 32º38′ N and 16º54′ W of Greenwich. This is 545 km from North Africa and 964 km from Lisbon in Portugal, which is only about four hours by plane from Düsseldorf. Other islands such as Lanzarote may be better known, but they are 500 km further south in the Atlantic Ocean. Contrary to many rumours, Madeira does not belong to Spain but is genuinely Portuguese. One of the most striking differences to Portugal is the famous and exquisite Madeira wine, which is not a Port wine!!
The archipelago consists of the main island Madeira, the smaller island Porto Santo and the three uninhabited islets Ilhéu Chão, Deserta Grande and Ilhéu de Bugio (Ilhas Desertas). The islands of volcanic origin are hilly. The coast of Madeira is steep and rocky. Deep lava canyons drop down to the sea, especially on the north coast. Madeira, the largest island, is the peak of a mountain range that rises from the sea floor to an altitude of 6.5 km. The volcanic origin can be seen in the mountainous interior and in the lava flows along the coast. Cabo Girão, west of the capital Funchal, is the second highest cliff in the world. The highest elevations of the island are in the interior. Pico Ruivo is with 1862 m the highest mountain of the island, the very close Pico do Arieiro is 1810 m high. What attracts so many visitors to Madeira is probably clear: the moderate climate. It is not too hot in the summer time and not too cold in the winter time: the average temperature in Funchal is between 19 and 25 degrees Celsius. This results in a very own vegetation that inspires with its diversity. Also, the clocks in Madeira somehow work differently: there is still time for some loving little things.
The Four Views Oásis Hotel is located by the sea, next to Reis Magos beach, just 12 km from Funchal. The hotel has direct access to the popular beach promenade.
Our partner Hotel DOM PEDRO GARAJAU! The Dom Pedro Hotel is located in Garajau and enjoys the gentle climate of the south coast of Madeira. The hotel has a total of 282 units and is equipped with excellent leisure, entertainment and relaxation facilities. The hotel offers a daily entertainment programme and the facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, an outdoor swimming pool, a mini-club and so on. Everything to make your stay in Madeira the best! The hotel is located just a short 10 minute drive from Madeira International Airport. Funchal, the capital of Madeira, is easily accessible as it is only 4 miles away.
